PAPHOS, THE CITY OF UNESCO
On route to the stunning UNESCO World Heritage-listed city of Paphos, you are presented with a not-to-be-missed photo opportunity. According to Greek mythology, Petra Tou Romiou (also known as Aphrodite’s Rock) is the birthplace of the Goddess of beauty and love and a great place to have your photo taken.
Situated on the sunny southwest coast of Cyprus is the celebrated pilgrimage center of Paphos. The UNESCO protected, picturesque Paphos incorporates a magnificent historical archaeological site and a town and is a popular destination for history buffs.
The star attraction of the archaeological site is the vast Tombs of the Kings. Built between the 3rd century BC and 3rd century AD, the impressive and sprawling ancient necropolis features underground tombs that are carved out of the solid rock.
After lunch is Kato (Lower Paphos), we explore the Archaeological Park, where more of the town’s exquisite treasures can be found. Visit the ruins of the Houses of Dionysos, Aion and Thysseus, and admire the finest, and most colorful, mosaic floors in the Eastern Mediterranean.
